Manor Farm Lakes, Battisford - Open All Year - Strictly Members only

GVAC took control of this, brand new site in 2001. We applied for, and received a Sport England grant through the Awards for All scheme. This grant, and other monies received, provided us with the finances to purchase platforms, signage, plants, fish stock and safety equipment. The grants also helped us provide a wheelchair-accessible platform and suitable path; the platform can accommodate five wheelchairs. This site is used for our very popular junior and disabled teach-ins. We have toilets on site, including wheelchair-accessible facilities. The two lakes hold a healthy stock of bream, small hybrid carp, crucians, roach, rudd, perch, gudgeon and tench. There are around 28 fishing platforms, incorporating additional wheelchair access. The site is overlooked by two houses and members must respect the occupiers' privacy. Additionally, GVAC members must park their cars on the concrete pad, and with due consideration. Most productive baits are maggots, pinkies, casters, worms, sweetcorn, pellets and bread. In view of the nature of the fishery, anglers should use pole or short range rod and line rigs. Our site manager, Barry Miller - one of our qualified NFA coaches - will be happy to pass on his advice. Barry is part of our Junior Management team and through his continued involvement with events on-site, knows what baits and tactics are producing. He also has an intimate knowledge of the different pegs - his mobile phone remains in one of the swims!
